New Patient Info

Welcome to our practice. We appreciate the opportunity to provide you with excellent dental care. Our staff members are well trained professionals who work together as a team to bring you the highest quality treatment in a warm and caring setting. We have provided this welcome letter so that we may better serve you. It contains answers to the questions that most patients ask. However, if you have other questions, please feel free to ask any staff member.

Initial Exam

Your initial visit will include:

• A one-on-one interview to review your medical and dental history. This is a great time to share any particular needs or concerns you may have related to dentistry such as fear, anxiety or sedation.

• Head and neck exam, during which you will have an exam of your muscles, lymph nodes and glands as well as a screening for TMJ (temporomandibular joint) dysfunction.

• Intra oral exam. This includes a soft tissue exam with oral cancer screening and detection of tooth decay, wear and fractures. We will also assess the functional alignment of teeth for indications of potential need for orthodontics and replacement of missing teeth. For adults and children both, we will examine the tongue, oropharynx and nasal passages to screen for signs of airway disorders.

• Periodontal exam to detect periodontal disease. The examination and probing of gums helps identify the overall state of gum and bone support. This information is important in determining the type, extent and frequency of cleaning you require.

Recall-Visits

We believe in the benefits of regular preventative care and encourage all our patients to return as prescribed by the Doctor. At the end of your cleaning appointment, you will be given an opportunity to secure your next appointment that will fit your schedule. If you decide to not schedule at that time, an email reminder will be sent to you when it is your time to return. If there are changes in your health history, contact information, or insurance coverage, please notify the front office staff as soon as possible.
